Grant Us Peace

Harpur wrote a poem on peace for a school project and was chosen along with 9 of her classmates to perform her Peace poem in a concert called “Grant Us Peace” at the Yale Woolsey Hall, New Haven, CT on Saturday night, May 2, 2009. Performing was the New Haven Chorale, Hartt School of Music Choruses, and the Hartt Symphony Orchestra. As you can see from the photo above it was a packed house and the Chorus was huge. Below is the video of Harpur’s recital of her poem.

2008 CHSA Awards Banquet – Photos

The 2008 CHSA Awards Banquet was held Saturday, March 7 at the Hartford Marriott in Hartford, CT attended by over 500 CHSA Members, Friends and Family. This was the 76th CHSA Year End Awards banquet!
The Awards Banquet started with the parade of Champions. Then followed Trudy Wissel, End of Hunt Equestrian Center, presenting a very special surprise award for lifetime apprectiation to CHSA President Cynthia Jensen and Membership Chairman George Jensen. Cynthia and George were greeted with a standing ovation from the over 500 members in the ballroom.

Next, Sixty Year End Awards were presented along with a Raffle that raised money for the CHSA Scholarship Fund. View photos from the Awards Banquet.

The 2008 CHSA Good Sportsmanship Award was presented to Brianna Couture by Kristen Guadagnino, Chairperson of the Sportsmanship Committee. Sandy Giammarco wrote a very moving nomination letter for Brianna.

Special Thanks for all the volunteers who made the 2008 CHSA Awards Banquet a success, especially the Banquet Chairpersons: Elizabeth Rhoden and Deb Krawitz!

Harpur was 7th in Children’s Equitation and 8th in Children’s Hunter Horse.

The Mystic Valley Hunt Club hosted a Valentines Day horse show on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Harpur and Roderrick were Champions in Children’s Hunter Horse and won her first ribbons in Junior Equitation. See all the videos.

2008 CHJA Awards Banquet

The banquet season has begun! We missed the New England banquet where Haprur was 5th in Children’s Equitation. Last night was the Connecticut Hunter Jumper Association (CHJA) Awards banquet, where Harpur picked up a 4th in Children’s Equitation. We sat with all our friends and barn mates from Mysic Valley Hunt Club.

Special Congratulations to Cynthia Jensen who received the President’s Award and Matthew Couzens who received the Distinguished Service Award.

Saturday December 6, 2008 – Pines Farm Horse Show

Last class of the day for Harpur and Roderrick at The Pines Farm USEF “A” winter horse show. Haprur finished 2nd, 2nd, 2nd over fences in Children’s Hunter and 3rd in the Under Saddle. They were Reserve Champion for the Children’s Hunter Division and finished 3rd in the Marshall Sterling Children’s Hunter.

As we say goodbye to the 2008 horse show season, which ended on Sunday, November 30, 2008, Harpur’s placings in the various associations were as follows:

NEHC – New England Horseman’s Council
Children’s Equitation – 5th Place

CHJA – Connecticut Hunter Jumper Association
Children’s Equitation – 4th Place

CHSA – Connecticut Horse Shows Association
Children’s Equitation – 7th Place
Children’s Hunter Horse – 8th Place

081115 Pines Farm Horse Show

Saturday, November 15, 2008 we headed up to The Pines Farm for day 2 of their 3 day “A” rated Horse Show. The weather was windy with hourly downpours. We traveled with Paige and PJ and we arrived just in time for Paige’s Pre-Children’s Equitation class (and I mean just in time…). Page was Champion in the Pre-Children’s Equitation and Reserve Champion in the Pre-Children’s Hunter! Congrats to Paige and PJ!

Harpur rode in the Children’s Equitation. There were two horses and 15 cute small and medium ponies! She placed 8th in the flat and pinned over fences 8th, 4th and 2nd. Hours later (5pm) she rode in the Children’s Hunter Horses Division and pinned 3rd, 8th, and 8th. She also competed in the Marshall & Sterling Children’s Hunter and socred a 74 in both rounds which was good enough for 4th Place.

2008 CHJA Medal Finals

Harpur had a great weekend at the 2008 CHJA Medal Finals at the Fairfield Hunt Club. The Weather was perfect and the Fairfield Hunt Club has one of the most beautiful settings for a horse show. The grass rings were perfect! Special Thanks to CHJA for putting on a great Medal Final. The courses were tough and the testing was hard, but everyone appreciated the Judges and the job they did.

Harpur rode Friday in the Children’s Hunter 14 and Under (3′), Saturday she rode in the Modified Children’s Hunter (2’6″) and was Champion.

Next up on Sunday was the 2008 CHJA Medal Final. She had a great ride, but she received a score of 72.5 which was not high enough to make the cut…Till Next Year!
